WHAT IS A NURSE-MIDWIFE?

A Certified Nurse-Midwife(CNM) is a professional health care provider who is a registered nurse with one to two years of additional training in gynecology and obstetrics.  CNMs must pass a national certification examination and meet strict requirements set by state health agencies.  Nurse-midwifery services have been available in nothern Colorado since 1982.

CNMs provide safe, medical care and focus on the emotional needs of women.  Clients are encouraged to participate in the management of their pregnancies, and in well woman health procedures.

Fully certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives, the nurse-midwives of Womancare are also licensed as registered nurses by the state of Colorado.

If the concept of nurse-midwifery is unfamiliar, we encourage you to call our office at 493-1865.
